Review for the Legacy of King Jasteroth

The Legacy of King Jasteroth by S.L. Wyllie

This week we have a new review of a fantasy book. This book was brought to me bby the site https://voraciousreadersonly.com/ where the authour was kind enough to send me the Ebook in exchange for this review. So, lets get to the book.

The story is set in a magical land that is split into several kingdoms. In the kingdom of The Golden Peaks there are many things you would typically find in a fantasy story. Like castles, spellcasters, royalty and swordfighting. The story follows the adventures and misfortunes of the Princess Ariella and her tutor Austin. There is plotting and mysteries that occur to the royal family. Without giving anything away there is some elements of mystery and adventure mixed with magic.

With all that said, there are major problems with this book. The biggest problem i have is that none of the rules have been clearly defined. None of the lore regarding magic and the kingdoms is told to the reader, which makes it a very confusing read. The next big problem is that none of the characters make sense and mesh well together. The relationships of most of the characters seems stilted and forced. The last bit that really annoyed me was that there was lots of slow scenes, then for no reason the pacing would get too fast and then go back to slow.

I was not a fan of this book. There was no part where i cared about any of the characters and i failed to see the reason why Princess Ariella was so special. I mean, yeah she had powers, but other than that there was nothing unique or any reason to give a crap about her. There is a sequel out now and a third planned to be released. Maybe the second book explains the first one, but i am not interested in reading more. I will not be recommending this book.
