Delores Claiborne review

Published in 1993 by Stephen King Delores Claiborne recently hit my shelf. I had never heard anything about this book. I picked it up mostly because of the author, but as a book Delores Claiborne is worth giving a try.

The book is set in the 1980s on a little island near Maine, called Little Tall Island. Delores Claiborne has lived a very long interesting life o the island. She has weathered the scandals of having an abusive husband, dysfunctional children, and twenty some years before the main story takes place Delores was accused of her husband's murder. Now as an old woman there is another mysterious death that th as the townsfolk crying murder.

The entire book Delores is sitting in an interrogation room telling the local sheriff her story. In one long book length chapter Delores Claiborne confesses all her secrets and explains why she isn't the one who killed her boss, who was the richest woman on the island and also a total bitch.

This book was a perfect example of Stephen King's writing style and how he can make the mundane creepy. There is so much to love about this book. It has suspense, murder, mystery and total immersion into a country way of thinking. I didn't think I was going to like this book but it is a great book and I will definitely be reading it again.
